Dubai Forensic Labs

Dubai Police’s new state-of-the-art headquarters of the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology, opened in 2016. It is the largest Forensic Labs in the region. The four-story building covers an area of 400,000 square feet and consist of three main sections and two sub-sections.

Our Scope

[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Design, Supply, Testing, Commissioning and Integration of the Indoor Air Quality Monitoring System (IAQ)
The Demand Ventilation IAQ is used to safely adjust ventilation rates to reduce HVAC energy costs by 40-60% in laboratory spaces.

The Purpose of this IAQ system is to ensure:

  • The integrity of the air inside the rooms that are subject to any contamination or that are sensitive to any changes in the quality of air.
  • To change the ventilation requirement of the saved areas based on the actual demand determined by the usage of the room.
  • Energy saving based on the demand ventilation strategy.
  • Safety of the personnel who are using the building by giving the alarm whenever the air is contaminated.

8 IAQ Sampling Panels were installed in the project, processing samples from a total of 175 Zones.

Each Sampling panel has an industrial grade PLC, Dual-Headed vacuum pump & 3 gas analyzers; CO2, TVOC & Particulates.  Each system will sense the following environmental parameters in each required space:

  • Area CO2 level in PPM CO2.
  • Area Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOC) indicated in PPM.
  • Area (0.3/2.5 micron) particle levels, (measured in Million PCF “million particles per cubic feet”)

The System compares the air samples from each controlled zone, compare it to a fresh-air reference sample & based on that send a proportional air quality signal to both Building Management System & Air Flow Control System via BACnet/IP. Based on the quality signal the air flow control system shall react according to the required control philosophy of the building.

The IAQ Sampling System sends the air quality signal to the Building Management System (BMS) for monitoring & control the systems in the building accordingly.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Design, Supply, Testing, Commissioning and Integration of the Laboratory Dilution & Exhaust System

The High plume fans system is designed to have high discharge velocities and dilution by inducing fresh air through a stack. A combination of Air volume and velocity contributes to a high plume exhaust while diluting hazardous exhaust concentrations. MK Plastics Axijet fans series is a great fit this purpose.

7 Fans Sets, each of a Duty-Standby arrangement were installed to extract hazardous air from the building. Different sizes of fans were installed, from 1170 to 16686 CFM Capacities, to serve the various needs of the building sections

A PLC based, Factory programmed & tested Lead-Lag Control Panel is used to control the operation of each fan set. The control system monitors &controls the fans speed, duty cycling, alarms, flow measurements & dampers operation to achieve the required operating conditions.
